The forum will bring together practitioners and scholars involved in teaching of music from around the world, to investigate methods and practices of teaching instrumental or vocal students in the diverse contexts of global music making; and to explore and discuss the most recent relevant research that could assist instrumental/vocal teachers.
Say hello to Baku, Azerbaijan
The ISME Forum on Instrumental and Vocal Teaching Pre-Conference Seminar is being held on 14 July 2018 at Park Inn Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Baku, Azerbaijan's capital and most populous city, is located on the Eastern side of the country, next to the Caspian Sea.
Having proclaimed its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Azerbaijan was able to flourish as a resource rich and politically secular country. Baku is a spectacular illustration of a country embracing newfound wealth whilst holding onto its rich cultural history. The Inner City of Baku, along with the Shirvanshah's Palace and Maiden Tower, were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. ISME is very much looking forward to hosting the 2018 conference in Baku. The Azerbaijan National Conservatory is one of the nation's higher music education schools. |
The aims of the forum are to investigate methods and practices of teaching instrumental or vocal students in the diverse contexts of global music making; and to explore and discuss the most recent relevant research that could assist instrumental/vocal teachers. This Forum encompasses all aspects of instrumental and vocal teaching and learning that may take place in the home or school, on a one-to-one or small group basis.
